Music for Advent and Christmas

Music for Advent and Christmas

Yesterday, I finally had time to work on videos again. I recorded 5 Advent hymns (O Come, O Come, Emmanuel; Creator of the Stars of Night; O Come Divine Messiah; People Look East; Comfort, Comfort, O My People) and one Christmas hymn, God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen. I don’t plan to make any more Advent videos this year, but I do plan on getting more videos made of Christmas hymns. Hopefully they will be done by the first week of December, which will give you a few weeks to practice before the church’s Christmas season begins. If you need arrangements for Christmas before then, I do have some in the old format you can find in my LGH Lessons playlist on my Jim Nailon home page at YouTube. My favorite is the Coventry Carol video starring our cat, Sunny.

If you also sing and want some new music for the upcoming seasons, check out my latest CD, Little Baby in the Hay. Let There Be Light is a good congregational hymn that touches on most of the scripture readings in Advent. I always sing Little Baby in the Hay as a second communion song at Midnight Mass. Little Baby and Carol of the Wise Men work well with my children’s choir. There are 9 original hymns on the CD, 3 solo guitar pieces and 3 standards (Panis Angelicus, Ave Maria and Angels We Have Heard on High) and it is worth checking it out. The CD would even make a nice Christmas present and your purchases would help support the Liturgical Guitarist work and website, which would be much appreciated. You can purchase the music digitally through CD Baby or by actual CDs from me. Follow the links on the DISCOGRAPHY page on my website.
