Announcing the LGH (Liturgical Guitarist Hymnal)
When I first started formally arranging hymns 25 years ago, I envisioned writing a book called The Liturgical Guitarist Hymnal that might contain over 25 hymn arrangements. I even had encouragement from Bob Hurd to do so. But the major Catholic music publishers all turned down the idea, so I made a website to share my arrangements freely. Now 25 years later, God again placed the book idea in my heart, only this time as a digital book.
I shared my idea with friends at Simply Liturgical Music (SLM), and they were very supportive of the concept and would like to distribute the digital book. I chose 86 of my arrangements, carefully went through them looking for errors and rewriting sections that I felt needed improving, and I combined them into this book. I also wrote a forward, a page about some of the features of the book, a page about additional resources and a page telling a little about me. Kelly Barth at SLM wrote the legalize info on page 2 to make sure it was done right. My heartfelt thanks to both Kelly and TJ Mesler, both good guitarists, who supported and advised me along the way. I also want to thank my wife, Gina, for her advice and editing for the written pages.
I could write a much longer blog that describes the features of the book and how best to use it, but that is not necessary because I made a video to do all that. You can find it on my Videos page and also on YouTube at https://youtu.be/tpbYXdjeY8A?si=XSMTdk0MhHR_PWDn
The book is for sale at SL Music for $30. Here is the link:
